Holiday Tooth Redemption

Today I am starting to realize I may have made a few mistakes in the last few months.  I am starting to feel sensitivity on my teeth as I drink my coffee.  I am nice and happy and warm, but I feel that there is something slightly wrong with a few teeth in my mouth.  What I have known for a bit is that they were not really normal, but now I can truly feel something is different.  I am pretty sure that after all the holiday eating and drinking that I put my teeth past a healthy spot.  It is simply because of all the family gatherings and times spent with friends. I know now that I should have been a bit more careful this year, but with all the COVID-19 isolation I wanted to just feel free and be a little more open.  Unfortunately, I now have to pay the price and I have indeed eaten to many sweets and acidic things without taking care of my teeth and have a few cavities.  So my next goal is to go to a dentist and get a filling.

But could I have actually prevented this from happening?  I am honestly pretty sure if I would have done a better job with my normal health that I could have completely prevented all of this from happening.  It is not rocket science to stay healthy, but it does take some time and good habits to be put in place to keep your body healthy.  This goes for the physical acts of brushing teeth, working out, and also eating right.  Those three things are huge when it comes to staying healthy and if you stop doing one of them, then part of your body will start to have some big issues. So, instead of pretending I am doing everything right, I am going to instead set out my schedule for how I am going to live and do things better.

The first thing to know is that all of this is going to be done in a way that creates a habit.  Habits are generally created in humans by doing something thirty times in teh way you plan on doing it.  For me, this means that I will need thirty days of good dental habits to put in place and that is not going to be done just by me wanting to do it.  For myself, I know that I work well on a schedule so I have indeed set up a schedule of alarms on my phone to keep my future tasks on track.  In the morning I have an alarm to wake up and then to brush my teeth for two minutes.  This is then followed up by making sure I use mouthwash as well.  Not only is this important, but I am going to set another alarm to make tea instead of coffee.

Drinking tea instead of coffee should allow my teeth to not be as stained and not be attacked as much by all the acid.  I will still be able to get the caffeine which is why I drink coffee, but I will be able to avoid all the painful and tooth decaying aspects of coffee.  This is going to really help me out and I have another alarm set at night to do it all over again except the tea is caffeine free.
